Caramelized Bratwurst with Sauerkraut & Cabbage

  1. In a large sauté pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add half of the shredded cabbage with a pinch of salt and let it wilt down, stirring occasionally.
  2. Once the cabbage has softened, add the rest of the cabbage and sauerkraut. Cook until the cabbage is fully wilted and the liquid has mostly evaporated. Toss in the toasted caraway seeds and adjust seasoning to taste.
  3. In a separate medium sauté pan, place the bratwurst and add 1/2 cup of water. Cover the pan and cook over medium heat for 4-5 minutes.
  4. Remove the lid and let the sausages get that perfect golden-brown caramelization on each side. Flip them occasionally to ensure even browning.
  5. Transfer the bratwurst to the pan with the sauerkraut and cabbage. Give everything a good mix to let the flavors meld.
  6. Serve hot with a side of your favorite mustard for dipping. Yum!
