January 2025: Happenings
And that is a WRAP! 2024: our first official year in sausage biz (😭😭…we're not crying)! It was certainly the best (& sometimes felt like the hardest & ‘wurst 🌭) year 😅 filled countless fire drills, late nights, early mornings, etc.,…but with equally as many milestones, new friends, learnings, LOLs, hugs and more! ♥️
& above all, a ton of GRATITUDE to be able to build this little sausage biz and community with you all.
We started Lottie’s as a wild idea with a central goal – to fuel & connect more people in more places - through a brand that lifted up the entire ecosystem while working towards a more inclusive, sustainable food system. And while most days, this feels like a pretty tough gig with endless challenges 😅, we are incredibly grateful we get to do it (and get to do it with all of you)!
Thanks for reading NEW NEWS this year - it has been really fun & exciting for us to recap each month and highlight what is to come.
So with that, a brief 2024 highlight reel (for our mom, obvi):
-------------
Q1:
- We both went FULL TIME on Lottie’s (scary) and focused on R&D, finding a co-packer, + building some super star partnerships and “popping up!”
- In March, we picked up our first production run (literally, we picked up 100 cases in Chelsey’s Jeep and hand-delivered product to a dozen retail partners). We also headed to California for Expo West as a StartupCPG Backpack Brand! By the end of the quarter, all four products that we now know and love were live!
Q2:
- In April, we launched nationwide shipping 📦 and spent the following months hosting more “pop ups” and collaborating with top wine bars, shops, bakeries, and gearing up for our first ever farmers market (where we saw you 22 Sundays in a row 🤗)!
- We added our first distributor partnership and continued to scale our retail presence.
- In June, we celebrated ‘Summer’ & ‘Dads’ 😎 with a limited hot dog drop, specialty merch items, and unique recipes! We headed to NYC to launch in a few new stores and exhibit at Shopify’s Summer of Startups.
Q3:
- July brought some of our favorite pop ups of the year - Talea, Persona Wine, Smash & Grab at MyBoyTony and more. 💃
- We exhibited at our first trade show - Newtopia Now - and reached new accounts in 10+ states.
- We scaled production - working with two new USDA co-manufacturers - to support new food service accounts and kicked off our month-long Oktoberfest residency at Call to Arms brewing! 🍺
- Oh and Augie turned one! 🎂
Q4:
- We entered Q4 feeling a leetle sleepy after a big Q3. But, little did we know, Q4 would be an even bigger sprint 😅!
- We added dozens of new accounts including our biggest yet - SENDIK’S IN WISCONSIN 🧀 – and survived our first Black Friday // Cyber Monday (a big big big thank you to everyone who ordered and shared Lottie’s as holiday gifts)! 🎁
-------------
Throughout all of this, we made 1289352385 mistakes, lost a lot of sleep, shed a few tears, and only got in a few fights !!! (that last point was also for our mom)
Most importantly, we gained a lot of insight and learnings…and enough traction to continue this whole sausage thing into 2025 (yahoo)! So here we go!
